Community-Based Inter-Group Relations Programs
Negative messages which people receive about people from
other groups are often communicated in community settings,
and those community settings, programs can break through the
cycle of stereotypes and prejudice. ICP helped to develop
one such program between Jewish youth in the Harrisburg Hebrew
High program and African American youth of the the St. Pauls
Missionary Baptist Church. This program brought together two
group which normally would not interact with one another.
ICP seeks to create partnerships such as this one which unite
divergent sectors of local communities. Any interest parties
should contact Shalom Staub at ICP.
ICP can create programming which encourages dialogue between
groups using a Study Circle forum. Study Circles is a small
group which meets approximately six times for a facilitated
discussion about diversity issues affecting a community. ICP
provides facilitation and activities that maximize the groups
potential to discuss multiple perspectives and generate a
myriad of ideas for addressing the issues at hand.
