If you’re running Windows XP and you have Microsoft Excel, this is a great tool for documenting the shortcuts present on your system and clearing the ones that are no longer good. When you launch the workbook, a form pops up. If you select the option to build a new shortcut list, an input box appears asking you which of the drives present on your system should be searched. It finds all the lnk type shortcuts, their targets, and confirmation of the presence of those targets. Shortcuts where the target file is missing are highlighted in red after the program populates Sheet1 with the list of all shortcuts. At this point, you can choose the option to delete any shortcuts with missing target files. All broken links are cleared from the system.
